Heartbeat and Ultrasound

Today (April 24th) we got to hear the heartbeat at our regular checkup and then this afternoon we got to have our first ultrasound!  The heartbeat this morning was 166.  Then we came home for a while and Justin had to take apart the dryer to fix something in it.  This afternoon we went to the ultrasound and much to my mom and Justin's disappointment, there's only one baby in there!!  haha  The heartbeat went up to 175 this afternoon and we got some good pictures of the baby!  This one is my favorite because it shows the profile of the face and body and also the hand by the face waving hello!!

Telling J's Parents

This weekend (April 21st) we went to dinner with Justin's parents at Buffalo Wild Wings.  We had stopped to by a pacifier and hid it in a jewelry box (like a ring box).  Once we got seated and ordered our food Justin gave the box to his mom and said "here, we got you something".  She opened it and looked shocked and then said "Are you???" and we said yes!  They seem very excited for us!  I'm started to get really excited because we have two appointments tomorrow (April 24th).  One to hear the heartbeat and one to see the ultrasound!  Tomorrow should be an exciting day!  We will get to tell the world tomorrow assuming everything looks fine!

Telling my parents and the new crib!

We went to Oklahoma this weekend to celebrate Rosy's 2nd birthday and visit with family.  We decided this would be the perfect time to tell my parents and my grandparents.  My parents were shocked and thanks to Karale for taking this video!  It's sideways because I can't figure out how to flip it, but you can definitely see mom's shocked face as she figures out what the picture means!  This is the picture that she's looking at

My grandparents on the other hand apparently had it figured out when they saw me at the party the day before we told them.  They weren't quite as shocked.  Of course, they already have 2 other granddaughters pregnant. Jen is due in September, Nichole is due in October, and we're bringing up the rear in November!  Exciting times!

Today when I got to work, there was a posting in my email for a crib free to a good home.  They posted a picture of the crib and said it needed a little TLC, but Justin is good at that stuff and I figure you can't beat free!  So I emailed him and we got it!  Justin is supposed to pick it up after work today!

I called the doctor yesterday and we have both the heartbeat/12 week checkup and the ultrasound scheduled for the same day (April 24th).  After that, we'll announce our pregnancy to the world!  I'm extremely excited about this!

I've been feeling better recently.  Not as sick feeling and not quite as tired.  Still more tired than usual though.  I was worn out in Oklahoma, but I figure that's because I was playing with Rosy and "So-see" so much!  I had a blast visiting with everyone!

8 Week Appointment and Parking

We had our 8 week appointment yesterday (March 28th-Happy Birthday Nichole!) and I didn't really know what to expect.  They just weighed me (I've gained 4 pounds, but they didn't tell me, Justin sneaked a peak at the monitor) and then just measured part of my belly with a tape measure.  They did say that at the next appointment (12 week) we'll listen for the heartbeat!  Yay!  They also asked if I wanted an ultrasound at 11-13 weeks with a test for downs syndrome.  I'm a planner, so I decided to have the test done.  I've decided that I would want to know so that I can gets things ready according to the test results. Plus Nichole had an ultrasound and I would LOVE to see my little fraggle!!

I had to run errands with a friend from work today during work hours and one of the stops was at Best Buy.  My friend knows (she's in my zumba class and I wanted her to keep an eye on me), so we parked in expectant mother parking for the first time!  She made me take a picture!  I was soooo scared because I kept thinking "they can't tell I'm pregnant just by looking at me, so I hope they don't ask me to prove it somehow!".  We just ran in and ran out, so it was completely fine!  Here's the pic!

I had to go to a baby shower...

It is sooooo hard to go to a baby shower when you are pregnant and your friends don't know yet.  Of course everyone there is saying it's my turn next and asking when we plan to have kids.  I felt so bad about pretty lying about the answers to those questions, but we are not ready for everyone to know yet!  It's just too early (I'm only 7 weeks right now)!  It did make me pretty excited for when we do get to tell everyone though!  That will probably be in another 5 weeks or so.

I'm feeling pretty good so far.  I've been a little queasy here and there and I'm SICK of eating!!!!! The doctor said if I would eat continuously throughout the day I wouldn't feel as sick so that's what I've been doing which is really hard when nothing sounds good to eat!  I think Justin is sick of making food decisions for me!  The good thing is that the weather has been really nice and me and fraggle have actually been riding the scooter to work for the last 3 days!  This nice weather (and the fact that he know longer has homework) has kick started something in Justin and he's turned into super husband!  He gets off work an hour earlier than me and by the time I come home, he has cleaned some section of the house (or yard) and cooked dinner for me!  Then he does the dishes when we're done eating!  Dishes have mostly always been his thing though because they gross me out unless I do them as I'm cooking.  They especially gross me out now so he's good about doing them.

I haven't had cravings at all I don't think.  Although one night last week I'm pretty sure I would have given my right arm for some ken's pizza.  That's right.  I crave a place that's closed down.  GREAT! Although we think there might be one by Nichole's house so we'll have to try it out and see if it's the same.  Other than that, there's not been much that sounds good.  I can tell you that I think my aversions are meat and anything to do with tomatoes which is awful because I LOVE tomatoes!!!  I used to drink V-8 alot and eat salsa all the time, but the thought of them makes me want to be sick. I've never really been much of a meat person (except tuna fish), so that's not really surprising to me. I do eat a lot of peanut butter, but I'm pretty sure that's because Justin bought me a 4 pound jar of it that I keep at work for snacks.  Everyone makes fun of it!

I don't really workout anymore still.  I almost went to zumba last night, but changed my mind at the last minute. Good thing too because we took Sophi for a walk around the neighborhood and I couldn't keep up with them! Usually Justin is yelling at me to "lower my sails" (slow down), but this time he left me in the dust!  My friend Andrea went to zumba and said she was sore today so I'm really glad I didn't go!!  The doctor said walks are probably my best bet anyways, so we'll try to stick to that!

Second Dr. Appointment

Today (March 14th) we had our second appointment.  It was really more of a consultation than anything.  We just met with a nurse who explained everything that would happen between now and delivery.  She explained that there are 7 doctors you rotate through and then whoever is on call the week you deliver is who delivers your baby.  I was really hoping to have a set up like Karale did where she had a private room and she delivered in that room and the baby stayed with her the entire time (except when they took her away for testing).  And I found out today that the hospital we'll be in is that way!  I'm very excited about this.

When I first got there she did tell me that I would have to give another blood sample.  If you remember from the first appointment, I do not handle this well at all.  This time I did alright though!  I didn't cry or flip out or anything!  Justin tried to distract me by saying "Mario Kart, Mario Kart" and I said "Seriously??  You are awful at this!!"  The nurse said "This is why you should take those classes at the hospital so he can learn better distraction techniques".  Haha.  I really liked this nurse!!  They had to do more blood test because my hormone levels were pretty low for the first one.  She said it's probably because we found out so early.  So they took more blood today just to make sure the hormone levels are increasing.

She did also say that my pap smear came back showing abnormal cells, but tested negative for a bunch of tests they ran on it.  They said they aren't worried about it because of the negative test results and that it won't affect the pregnancy at all, so they'll just keep an eye on it for now.

When I had gone to fill my prescription for prenatal vitamins this month, the cost was $75 for one month!!  I told Karale that and she mentioned that Meijer had a program for free Prenatals.  I talked to the nurse and she is turning in a prescription for the free program today along with some medicine for the nausea.  I haven't actually been sick yet, but I have been feeling "not well" if that makes any sense.  Nothing sounds good to eat, but I force myself to eat anyway because I know it's good for me and the baby.  I felt much better when the nurse said that was outrageous and we should save that money for the diaper fund!  :)

I walked away today with some formula samples and some organizer from the formula company as a free gift as well as lots of brochures about what's to come!  I have another check up on the 28th of March which I believe will put me at 8 weeks.  Then at 12 weeks I'll have an ultrasound to hear the heartbeat!  It's getting very exciting!

Week 6

I should be about 6 weeks now.  We have a Dr. appointment later this week, but it's not an exam.  I think it's just to get our family medical histories down and give us brochures and stuff.  I wish they had done this when they told me I was pregnant because I'm sure I'll read stuff in the brochures and find out I've been doing things I wasn't supposed to.  I've tried to be really careful though!

As of yesterday morning (March 11th), I'm pretty sure I'm going to have morning sickness pretty badly.  I've read that if you get carsick/motionsick easily then you usually have pretty bad morning sickness and I definitely do that!  Yesterday morning I felt really sick and this morning I felt really sick also.  Nothing has come of it, and I can usually handle it if I keep eating, but it's getting to the point where nothing sounds good to eat!  I've pretty much been living on strawberries, grapes, and grapefruit.  I've never been much of a meat eater (except for memaw's roast!), but I'm finding it's grossing me out a lot more now than ever.  I'm going to have to find a way to get protein besides meat just in case!

After I started feeling better yesterday, Justin offered to go for a walk with me again (we've been going for walks whenever the weather is nice so I can get some exercise!).  We ended up walking Sophi all the way to the Greene and back!  It took over 2 hours (because we stopped and got yogurt at the Greene) and ended up being 4.5 miles.  Needless to say, I'm worn out!!  I'm also not sleeping very well.  I usually have no problems going to sleep, but for some reason I'm not falling asleep very well and when I do fall asleep it doesn't last long. This means I'm still VERY tired all the time!  It's getting to the point where people at work are noticing and I think they are suspecting I'm pregnant.

We have a Dr. appointment on Wednesday, so I'll post an update then!

First Belly Shot and Your First Ride on Judy!

On Monday (March 5th) I took my first belly shot!  Of course, I'm not showing at all, but it's a good starting point to compare to down the road!

On Tuesday (March 6th) when we got home from work, me and Justin both took the scooter for a ride down the street and took some pictures. Here are some pictures of your first scooter ride!

First Doctor's Appointment

Well...it's official!  We went to the doctor today (February 28th) and they confirmed that I am pregnant!  We are 4+ weeks (as they said) and our due date is November 5th, 2012 which means you're bday will be close to either my dad's (your pa's) or papaw's!  We're very excited, but probably more scared than anything right now.  I mean this is a big deal especially while we're trying to move to Oklahoma!  Of course this makes me want to move to Oklahoma even more!  I'm 2 weeks behind Nichole which is pretty fun.

Justin was shocked to find out what goes on in a normal gyno visit.  I was due for a pap smear and I think that bothered him more than anything else!!  My problem was the blood they took.  I don't do well at all with needles/shots and I lost it before they even stuck me!  They were getting me ready and almost stuck me when one of the nurses said "Honey are you okay?  Are you going to cry?" and I said "YES!" and immediately lost it.  I started sobbing about the needle and they calmed me down and let me lie down which was much better.  It hurt while the tube was in my arm, and I'll tell you now that Justin needs to learn better distraction techniques because asking me about work isn't going to cut it!  Haha!  After they took the blood they gave me a sucker and we went to Panera to replenish my iron supply!  Hopefully we'll get good results from all the tests they run! We're very excited and I'm going to try to talk Justin into buying our first baby item tonight to celebrate.  I don't know what it will be, but we need something!!  Then it will feel more real!  NOTE:  I got off work much earlier than Justin and on his way home he stopped and bought me "What to Expect When You're Expecting" as a surprise!  It was awesome!

I enrolled on this website that will send me emails about what's happening to my baby/body every week. It was funny because the one for this week said my baby was the size of a poppy seed which is what we used to call Rosy!!  I love it!   I do feel really tired today, but that could have something to do with the fact I had to be at work at 4:30 this morning and maybe not much to do with the pregnancy.  I feel like my jeans are already getting too small, but it's also been about a week since I last went to the gym.  The good news is he said I could keep doing zumba, but I'll probably cut back on the gym.

It's very hard to keep this a secret at work!!!  I catch myself almost saying things and then having to just shut my mouth really quickly.  Especially since Justin works in the same building and stops by alot.  I can't wait to be able to tell everyone!!  We did a video call with Josh, Klee, and Rosy last night where we told Josh and he had a GREAT reaction!!!  You could tell he was very happy for us!  And Justin thought Klee's face was hilarious because Josh asked "so what have you been up to?" and Klee already knew from helping me out this weekend (Josh was on duty this weekend so he wasn't there when I called Klee) and she made the best "I already know what's going on" face!!  It was awesome!  Apparently Klee was very excited and told Rosy she was getting a cousin and Rosy squealed!  (I'm guessing that's the best description for what she did...if you want a demonstration, maybe Klee would show you sometime)  Haha!  It's going to be great having someone who's just recently been through all of this to talk to!  Plus, it's always fun to see Rosy playing!

I've written a lot of randomness today, but I have lots of things floating around in my brain that I want to remember because we're so excited!

We're having our own little fraggle!

First off, I guess I should explain the whole Fraggle thing.  When I was little I used to watch a show called Fraggle Rock.  I LOVED it!  One time, my dad took me to McDonalds and in my Happy Meal I got a toy with Mokey (from fraggle rock) in it and every since then many members of my family have called me either Mokey or Mokeyjane.  Mokey wasn't much like me in that she was very artsy and poetic and I'm a math nerd and not very creative (in fact, I'm stealing the blog idea from Karale!).  She was the oldest fraggle though and it seems like I've always hung out with people younger than me, so that part is kind of fitting.  The best part is that she's often called the mother hen of the fraggles.  So, considering this blog is about our growing family and I'll be the mother hen of the group, I thought the name Fraggles was appropriate!  Here's the story of the day we found out about having a baby!

On Saturday, February 25th Justin took me to eat at PF Changs for a late Valentine's Day celebration.  His fortune cookie read "A passionate new romance will enter your life when you least expect it".  I sent this to Karale and she joked that it would be in the form of a baby!  So, I randomly decided that since I was supposed to start my period the next day, I wanted to wake up and try a pregnancy test.  Just to try one, no particular reason.  I wasn't feeling weird, or late or anything.  So, imagine my surprise when I was pretty sure the test said positive!!  I ran in to ask Justin what he thought and then I still didn't believe it and had to send a picture to Karale to get her opinion!!!  She also thought it was positive, but recommended running to get a digital one just to be sure.  So J and I ran to the store and grabbed a digital one (and also some Dr. Pepper and Dr. K for a blind taste test as a result of an earlier argument that I could in fact tell the difference between Dr. Pepper and the other imposters).  I drank a little bit of the drinks and settled in to watch the new Footloose with J.  Once the movie was over I decided I could go to the bathroom again and take the digital test.  The test stated the results would show up within 3 minutes, but they showed up within the first minute which I took as a good sign.  So, Justin jumped in the shower to head to school to meet for a group project and I got on a video call with Karale to show her the results!  Here are the tests (see if you can see the plus sign)!

I decided that we should do something fun to celebrate.  We went to Target and walked around a little bit (and totally hung out in the baby section for while).  We also went to the place called Yoba that we LOVE.  It's yogurt and you pick your toppings.  I always get dark chocolate chunks and some strawberries.  J always gets these mango explosion balls (as he calls them).  They are little balls that burst fruit juice when you eat them.  They really are pretty good. Here are some pictures of us eating our Yoba!

After going to Target and walking around the Greene a little bit, we settled down to watch some TV.  My friend Molly called to see if I wanted to meet for coffee and to catch up so I did!  We got some coffee (decaf for me) and walked around the Greene a little catching up.  We also spent a good part of the day playing fetch with Sophi who is very excited to be a sister even if she doesn't know it yet.  Here are some pictures of us playing with Sophi.

After that, we watched some tv and went to bed.  We're very excited about the baby, but we're trying not to get our hopes up until we hear it from the Dr.'s mouth that we are definitely pregnant.  I came to work this morning (February 27th) and made an appointment for tomorrow (February 28th at 10:00 a.m.).  They will do my yearly checkup and also do bloodwork to verify the pregnancy.  I'm very excited to find out for sure!!  We also have plans to video call Josh tonight and tell him so Karale doesn't have to burst trying to keep the secret in from her husband!  :)

I turn 30 in one week, so this is probably the best bday present EVER!  What's even better is that my long time best friend/cousin Nichole is only about 2 weeks farther along than me!  We'll be pregnant together (God-willing)!!  Also, I believe our other cousin Jen is also pregnant, but she's farther along than both of us!  Lots of babies coming to the family soon!  Be sure to check back with this blog for updates about the baby and our growing family!
