35 Weeks and Visiting Brooke

A couple of weekends ago my friend from college Brooke (Barker) Davis came to visit Oklahoma one last time before she has her baby.  We decided to take advantage of the opportunity and visit her!  Here are some pictures.  We were trying to get creative, but we both have preggo brains and they weren't giving us very good ideas.

I had my 35 week appointment today and let me tell you it was an experience!!!  I wasn't aware that it was time to actually "check" me and I was very surprised when I had to strip down and let them check.  I didn't know what to expect and it was much worse than I would have imagined!  Karale says I'll get used to it and I hope so!  I hope it'll go easier next time since I'll know what to expect.  She says I'm thin, but my cervix is closed.  She even said I could still travel to McAlester this weekend if I wanted to.  I fully expected her to say no travel at this point, but apparently I was wrong.

I've gained just under 30 pounds through the whole pregnancy which is supposed to be a good amount.  The baby is measuring average size so far.  Her heartrate is good.

I don't have any updates about Justin's job or our house.  We still need lots of prayers that our house sells and that Justin finds a job here.  I'll post more as I know it!

It's a Girl!

Justin got to come for a visit this week and while he was here we took a tour of the Labor and Delivery area where we will be delivering the baby.  It was really nice.  They have all private rooms and they all have chairs that fold out into beds and you are also allowed to bring your own air mattress should you choose to.  I wanted to make sure I was at a place like Karale was where the baby stays in your room and not the nursery.  This place is that way.  They will take the baby if you need a break and want to catch up on some sleep, otherwise, if the baby is healthy, it's with you.  Apparently they are implementing a new policy where I have to create a list of people that might visit me in the hospital and if you aren't on the list, you don't get in.  Of course, if you stand outside and call me, I can add you to the list.  So, it would probably be helpful if anyone was thinking about coming to let me know so I can put you on the list just in case!

While he was here we also got to have an ultrasound and invite mom and dad.  Apparently it was the first time they've seen an ultrasound (they didn't have that when me and Josh were born).  It was cool.  Dad was good at guessing what we were looking at on the screen.  They had a better view of the screen than I did.  It was hard for me to keep lifting my head and looking around the corner at the screen.  They got to see the baby kick me a few times and they realized just how squirmy this kid is!!!  They had a difficult time getting the necessary picture of the face because the baby kept the arms in front of the face.  Apparently she doesn't like pictures just like her mom and Dobbie.  They eventually told us she was a girl!  I asked if they were positive, because of course Nichole was told her's was a girl at first, but it's obviously not.  They said they were positive and included a pic of her lady parts as proof.  It took them a while to get the proof though because she's apparently very bashful and was hiding behind my belly button and keeping her legs crossed over the necessary parts.  It was fun to get to see her!  Here are some pics of the ultrasound.

We then went to Babies R Us and showed my parents a few things that we registered for and bought Fraggle a couple of toys (this is the first thing we have bought for her).  I have pictures of the toys, but will have to post them later because they are on the camera at Nichole and Bryant's house.  Here is one from my phone of the toy Dobbie bought.  I posted it on facebook saying this was Sophi's present for her new little sister.

Apparently Dobbie took a pic of me buying the first toy and I didn't know it, so here it is!

Of course the next question everyone asks is what about names.  We didn't even start with names until we found out she was a girl.  Every name I would bring up Justin would just shoot down and I was starting to get worried we were never going to like the same name.  Finally I said one and he said he liked it!!  We don't know if we're using it yet (and we're keeping it a secret), but at least there's hope that we'll agree on a name!!!  Now he wants me to come up with three names he likes and we'll decide from there.

First Oklahoma Dr's Appt.

I had my first appointment with the Doctor in Oklahoma.  Her name is Allison Huebert and I LOVE her!  She actually sits on the Board of Trustees for OBU and that's how I got her name.  She was recommended to me by some coworkers and I'm sooo thankful to find a great one!  She sat and chatted with me for a long time.  I never felt rushed for her to get to her next appointment!  She worked with me very hard to get an ultrasound scheduled during J's visit in a couple of weeks.  So on July 3rd we will have an ultrasound and hopefully find out the gender of the baby!  I can't wait for his visit and the ultrasound!  Today the baby's heartbeat was 150.  We didn't do much else besides chat and check the heartbeat!

I drove by my labor and delivery area also.  It's about 5 minutes from the Dr's office and right across the street from the hospital.  It's freestanding though so I don't have to worry about infection from other patients!  Yay!  We have a tour scheduled on July 1st during J's visit here.  Hopefully I'll have lots more to report in a couple of weeks!

19 Weeks and the new job!

I'm now 19 weeks and 1 day along.  Here's the picture!  I'm trying to wear the same shirt for pictures so you can really see the difference!  I can definitely feel the difference!  On Sunday night when I went to bed I read a book for a while before falling asleep and I felt the baby kick (or punch) me!  It was great and totally weird!  Karale and I are hoping we can feel it on the outside before Justin gets here for his visit!  I don't know if that will happen, but it would be really cool for him to get to feel it!

I've started my new job at OBU and I really think I'm going to like it!  It's been kind of slow at first because has lots of meetings and wasn't able to show me much, but he's learning that he can just throw things at me and I'll do them!  I've been working on the master budget spreadsheet for the University and I found a lot of discrepancies that we went over yesterday.  He told me they were good finds and then he walked around the corner and gave the other lady a thumbs up and pointed to me.  Nancy (the President's secretary) told me he did it and that he's never done that for anyone in this position before!  I was very glad she told me because I haven't quite figured out how to read him yet!

I've visited Nichole's church once and I've already been talked into helping with VBS this summer!  I love it though because I get to teach the age I love!  It will be fun I think!

The University offers a water aerobics class which Nichole and I have joined.  It's not very hard and I don't feel like my heartrate gets up much, but we figured it was better than doing nothing.  We've decided to also start going on our own and doing our own swimming and workouts.  We are determined to be fit during pregnancy so labors not so hard on us!!  I've scheduled a doctor's appointment this week on Thursday, June 14th.  I really hope I like this doctor.  She's in Midwest City and she sits on the Board of Trustees for OBU.  She was highly recommended! My next goal is to start looking at daycares around and trying to find a place we like.

We just booked a flight for Justin to come visit me.  He will be here June 29-July 4.  It seemed a little stupid to dip into our moving money for this, but it's really hard being this far apart for this long and I feel like he's missing good pregnancy stuff!  I'm hoping he can schedule some job interviews while he's here and then hopefully that will lead to a job offer!  Please pray that we either sell the house or he gets a job so that we can be here together finally!!! I'm also hoping to schedule the gender check ultrasound during this time so we can be together and find out the gender of the baby and see the baby together!

It's been really fun being in Oklahoma though.  I've gone to see my parents (and work at camp) twice now and I've been to Durant to see the grandparents and friends once.  It was very weird going to Durant and not being able to go "home".  I stayed at Sherry and Steve's house which was nice, it was just weird not going to Kiersy corner!  I went to camp to cover for mom during Becca's wedding and dad decided he wanted to send the President a Crosstimbers shirt for all he does.  When I was leaving dad was like "Oh wait!  You never got the shirt and you won't be back before camps over!"  I said "Yes I will, I'll at least see ya'll haircutting weekend and you can send the shirt with mom, but I'm sure I'll be back before August!"  and he said "Oh yeah, you're in Oklahoma now!  This is kind of nice!"  It is kind of nice, but I'm starting to miss Ohio's summer a little bit.  This would have been easier if we had moved in the Fall/Winter I think because I would be ecstatic to get away from there that time of the year.  Right now, it's hard to give up my swimming pool!  I've been desperate for a pool, so I think Nichole and Bryant are going to take me to the city public pool and see what it's like.

15 Weeks

I had a lot of people at work today tell me I'm starting to really look pregnant, so I thought I would take a couple of belly shots and post them for people to see!

Also, today is my last day working at Wright State University.  Mom is flying in tomorrow and we are driving to Oklahoma on Sunday where I start work on Monday at Oklahoma Baptist University.  Please pray for safe travels and that I won't be exhausted.  Also, please pray that our house sells quickly because I don't want to be away from Justin for any longer than necessary.  I'm really hoping he'll be in Oklahoma with me by the time we are supposed to find out the gender of the baby (which I estimate to be another 5 weeks or so).  I'm really excited to start this new job and hopefully see many of my family members more often!!

Heartbeat and Ultrasound

Today (April 24th) we got to hear the heartbeat at our regular checkup and then this afternoon we got to have our first ultrasound!  The heartbeat this morning was 166.  Then we came home for a while and Justin had to take apart the dryer to fix something in it.  This afternoon we went to the ultrasound and much to my mom and Justin's disappointment, there's only one baby in there!!  haha  The heartbeat went up to 175 this afternoon and we got some good pictures of the baby!  This one is my favorite because it shows the profile of the face and body and also the hand by the face waving hello!!

Telling J's Parents

This weekend (April 21st) we went to dinner with Justin's parents at Buffalo Wild Wings.  We had stopped to by a pacifier and hid it in a jewelry box (like a ring box).  Once we got seated and ordered our food Justin gave the box to his mom and said "here, we got you something".  She opened it and looked shocked and then said "Are you???" and we said yes!  They seem very excited for us!  I'm started to get really excited because we have two appointments tomorrow (April 24th).  One to hear the heartbeat and one to see the ultrasound!  Tomorrow should be an exciting day!  We will get to tell the world tomorrow assuming everything looks fine!
